Most people go through their lives without a clue whether they could push themselves to physical limits, and no concept about how to do this safely. The series of gentle running tests in the book, “Running- Testing Yourself”, will gradually push you into a series of unknowns. Since each person can control the effort level, your body tells you when you’re pushing too hard. The testing process involves guessing and adjusting, going too far and then backing off. When done each week, the body organism makes adaptations so that you get better at judging pace at the beginning , and knowing when you can push further or should drop back (to avoid much greater drops later). The overall experience of doing this, even for one season, progressively reduces anxiety of the unknown as it develops confidence in confronting limitations in other areas.
