What is the goal of your training program?
This program trains participants to complete a marathon injury-free, using the run-walk-run method. The run-walk-run method was developed by Jeff Galloway, and many resources, including a sample schedule, are available at jeffgalloway.com.
Who is the program designed for?
Our training program is designed to help busy adults accomplish their goal of completing their first marathon. Many experienced marathoners also join the program to continue training injury-free for races year-round.
When do you meet?
Group runs are held on Saturday mornings, and they are led by pace group leaders for every level from Boston qualifiers to back-of-the-packers. Frequently, the start time is 7:30 a.m., but that will vary depending on the distance of the run. (Long runs will start earlier.) After you register for the program, you will receive weekly emails that contain the details for each Saturday’s run.
Where do you meet?
We frequently run from Ansley Mall in Midtown, but we also like to move around to see other parts of Atlanta. So, sometimes we will run in Brookhaven, Candler Park, Decatur, Dunwoody, Peachtree Battle, Roswell, Sandy Springs and Stone Mountain.
What resources do participants receive?
Participants receive a training schedule, a copy of Jeff Galloway’s “Training Programs” e-book, a technical T-shirt, and a subscription to Runner’s World magazine.
When is your next training season?
Training for fall 2017 marathons (Chicago, New York, Marine Corps, Savannah and Columbus) starts April 15, 2017, at the Sandy Springs Phidippides at 7:30 a.m. You are invited to join us for the kickoff before you register to check us out. Register online.
