We are expecting a lot of new and exciting things for the 2010 Athens Marathon. If you are not aware, 2010 will be a momentous celebration for the Athens Marathon because it will be the 2500th anniversary of the battle of Marathon in 490 BC and the legendary run by Pheidippides from the Marathon Battlefield to the city of Athens. Apostolos Tours anticipates an early sell out for our 2010 packages.

In 490 BC, the first battle for democracy was fought at the Greek village of Marathon. Though overwhelmingly outnumbered by an invading Persian horde, the citizen-soldiers of Athens won and preserved the classical Greek way of life. Legend has it that the Athenian messenger Phidippides ran twenty-five miles to Athens, carrying news of that stunning victory. The modern marathon commemorates his feat.

Your personal coach will be Jeff Galloway, Olympian runner and world-famous running expert. He'll show you the trails above the Aegean Sea which could have been used by ancient messengers. His daily clinics during the tour will give you the latest in fat-burning, injury-free training, and motivation.

Your host will be Paul Samaras, owner of Apostolos Greek Tours, a Greek native now living in Denver. He'll be your personal guide as you explore the Parthenon, Delphi, Epidavors, Athens' fabled Plaka, and others.
