Setting up a problem-solving run

  • Run slowly – the frontal lobe is activated by running, but too much stress reduces effectiveness
  • Get into a rhythm – provides structure, stimulation, and a positive environment for both left and right brain activity
  • Have a mantra – it should mention the problem, or be a positive statement, “I can solve this.”
  • Laugh and smile – this opens up the positive hormones and stimulates right brain activity
  • Think of the problems and say “I can do it” 3-5 times, regularly
  • Enjoy every minute of your run
