Joplin, MO – a day of caring on June 11th

Because of the unprecedented tornado damage in Joplin, MO, their very popular BOOMTOWN Half Marathon will not be held on June 11th. I was looking forward to this event but will travel there to help the runners and be a part of the clean up efforts. Saturday, June 11th will be a day of caring with a memorial service (6:30 a.m. at Memorial Hall – event starting line and now the medical triage center) and then clean-up projects. If you can join us, visit for details. If you cannot come but can contribute, please make a donation to the Red Cross or the United Way of Southwest Missouri. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the runners and citizens of Joplin and the other areas hit by the devastating storms of recent weeks.
